Publisher LucasArts announced today the development of a sequel to 2006's theme park creator Thrillville. The game, subtitled Off the Rails, is expected to release this October on Wii. Off the Rails will feature brand new "WHOA Coasters" - for a total of 20 rides - that will allow players to "leap from one track to another, launch through the air like cannonballs, blast through burning rings of fire and more." The game will also include a new lighthearted story that will take players through more than 100 missions. Additionally, gamers can expect 34 multiplayer carnival games and improved social interaction with guests. LucasArts did not specify how Wii's functionality will be utilized. "Between its amazing new WHOA Coasters, improved socialization, and a huge selection of minigames, Thrillville: Off the Rails is practically three great games in one, and it offers a fantastic bang for the buck," said Jim Ward, president of LucasArts. "We're also excited to introduce the franchise to four new platforms so that even more families can enjoy the Thrillville experience together." The original Thrillville released in November 2006 for PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable and Xbox. Players could customize their own character who would chat, challenge or flirt with guests in an effort to improve the park based on their tastes. The game featured over 100 missions spread across five theme parks, each split into three themed areas. Thrillville also contained 22 carnival games, ranging from kart races to first-person shooters, with 18 of them allowing for multiplayer. The studio responsible for Thrillville, Frontier Developments, also worked on RollerCoaster Tycoon 3.
