Super Mario Galaxy Not Made by EAD

by Terrell Chambers (2006-05-11)

In a discussion with IGN today, the General Manager of Nintendo Entertainment Analysis and Development, Takashi Tezuka, disclosed that Super Mario Galaxy was in development at Nintendo's Tokyo studio.

When asked how large the development team is, Takahashi would only say that it is much smaller than the development team of Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Incidentally, it was revealed that the team developing the new Smash Bros. at Masahiro Sakurai's studio Sora is approximately 70 people.

Nintendo's Tokyo studio was opened during the GameCube's lifespan and developed the bongo-controlled platformer Donkey Kong Jungle Beat. For those concerned about the game being too much of a departure from other Mario titles, many of the people of this Tokyo studio are former members of Nintendo Entertainment Analysis and Development, also known as Nintendo EAD, the creators of all of Mario's previous platformer adventures.

The Wiire will have more on Super Mario Galaxy as it is known.
