In an interview with Reuters and Yahoo! News, corporate vice president
of Microsoft's Interactive Entertainment Business Peter Moore chose a
side between Xbox 360's competition as he shunned PlayStation 3 for its
higher price tag and praised Nintendo's Wii console.
Moore
questioned the logic of PlayStation 3's price when he said "people are
going to buy two [consoles]. They're going to buy an Xbox and they're
going to buy a Wii... for the price of one PS3."
Moore further
discussed Wii, praising it for its market differentiation and
market-friendly price. "People will always gravitate toward a
competitively priced product -- like what I believe Wii will be -- with
innovative new designs and great intellectual property like Mario,
Zelda and Metroid."
The comments given by Moore seem to indicate that he is in agreement with Nintendo's statements that Wii and Xbox 360 are not in direct competition with each other and can actually complement one another.
The Wiire will bring you more news as it happens.
