In a press release issued yesterday, Opera Software announced that it
will offer its web-browsing software application for Nintendo's
next-generation console, Wii.
Browsing web pages will be done using Wii's motion-sensing controller for scrolling, allowing gamers to find strategy guides for the games they are playing or read reviews in between gaming sessions, for example.
"Nintendo
is clearly visionary in leading the gaming industry into the new era in
gaming, and a wonderful partner for Opera," says Jon von Tetzchner, CEO
of Opera Software. "We are thrilled to expand our partnership with
Nintendo, and work with them to deliver the best gaming experience on
the Wii console and the Nintendo DS."
Genyo Takeda, senior
managing director and general manager of Nintendo's Integrated Research
& Development Division, said that Opera was chosen for the Nintendo
DS and Wii due to its speed, security and compliance with all the
latest Internet browser standards.
The Wiire will bring you more on Wii and all of its features as it is released.
