Nintendo recently announced via its Japanese Web site that former Final
Fantasy composer Nobuo Uematsu crafted the main theme for Super Smash
Bros. Brawl for Nintendo's Wii. Uematsu composed the new orchestral
title track, in tandem with well-known Japanese opera singer Ken
Noshiori.
Uematsu organized several symphonies in Los Angeles,
including the first entitled "Dear Friends" and subsequent concerts
since then. Uematsu also organized his own rock band known as The Black
Mages, a name derived from a class in the Final Fantasy series.
Nishiori
cooperated on gaming and anime soundtracks in the past, such as Yoko
Kanno and the Seatbelts, known from the soundtrack of the popular
Cowboy Bebop animation series.
Nintendo has not yet stated if
Uematsu would compose the entire soundtrack for the next iteration of
Super Smash Bros., or if the series' original composer Hirozaku Ando
will be providing the remainder of the game's music.
The Super Smash Bros. Brawl main theme can be heard here.
The Wiire will have more on Super Smash Bros. Brawl as it approaches its tentative 2007 release date.
