In a recent announcement, Capcom confirmed an exclusive addition to the
Resident Evil series is coming to Nintendo's next-generation console,
Wii.
"The next-generation console Wii is garnering much
attention with its groundbreaking new controller," Capcom said in an
official statement. "The new Resident Evil game for the console will
combine the series' intense gaming experience and atmosphere with the
revolutionary control system of the Wii."
Capcom has not yet
provided details on this Wii Resident Evil title, its connection to the
series as a whole, and if Nintendo's next console might still receive
Resident Evil 5, currently slated for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
Resident
Evil is a survival horror series crafted by Shinji Mikami which began
life a decade ago on the PlayStation. The franchise has sold over 30
million units worldwide since its creation. Resident Evil 4 for
GameCube, originally released in January 2005, is considered by fans
and critics alike as the best game in the series. Capcom celebrated the
franchise's ten year anniversary with Resident Evil: Deadly Silence for
the Nintendo DS, a remake of the PlayStation original with added DS
functionality implemented.
