
Many of Miyamoto's innovations have come from simple tasks including gardening (Pikmin), caring for a dog (Nintendogs), and now Wii Fit looks to be added to the extensive list of Miyamoto's innovations.
When asked about how he came up for the concept, being the down to earth guy that Miyamoto is, he responded saying that the idea came to him from his daily weigh-ins at home, on the bathroom scale. Miyamoto is a deeply rooted family man, and gained a lot of his influences for Wii Fit based on things his family enjoy doing.
The question of defining Wii Fit then arose, with Chris Kohler asking Miyamoto if he considers Wii Fit to squeeze into the definition of a video game. The consensus seemed to be that Wii Fit is more of an experience than a game. Wii Fit is an experience that reaches out to more than just the avid gamer, and is designed with causal gamers in mind.
The interview ended with Chris Kohler asking what Shigeru Miyamoto is currently doing in his spare time, and Miyamoto hinted to his running through Central Park one morning. Could there be a new running game in works, similar to the classic World Class Track Meet?
