FaceBreaker Dev Claims Wii Version Will Be 'No Port'

by Skylar Wilcox (2008-05-09)

EA's development experiments for the Wii haven't always resulted in the best offerings for players fresh from first-party adventures, but EA's Canadian development houses have consistently put out some of the publisher's most inventive, memorable and fun franchises, including NBA Street and SSX.  The upcoming boxing game FaceBreaker, reminiscent of Punch-Out!! and Ready 2 Rumble, looks to be no exception, and the EA Canada promises an experience tailor-made to the strengths of the Wii.

In an interview with the UK's Official Nintendo Magazine, a developer said that although the Wii version of FaceBreaker can't deliver "super-duper, razzle-dazzle graphics", it "more than makes up for [it] by delivering a FaceBreakin' good time for you and your friends that you can only get on the Wii."  Specific exclusives weren't mentioned, but "in terms of game modes, controls, and gameplay we'll actually have a lot of stuff that the other systems won't."  The game's style and sense of humor definitely seem to work well with the Wii, and it looks like this will be one to watch in the coming months.
