The newly-released Nintendo Channel offers, among other things, the ability to download DS demos wirelessly to the DS. However, in order to enable this function, users must agree to share their usage data with Nintendo. As of now, if you do not agree to share your data, you will not be given access to this section of the channel. Nintendo's reasoning for this is unclear. Some people called last year's Everybody Votes Channel a way for Nintendo to collect demographics data on its userbase. That, along with this channel's requirement to share data in order to enable an important part of its functionality, raises the question of what Nintendo wants to learn about its users. It's likely nothing more than a way to see what types of games are most appealing to the channel's audience, but gamers tend to be wary of service restrictions. Perhaps Nintendo will remove the restriction at a later date, if enough people are concerned about it.
